on "the acadmey" they had a lot of people fail because if LD tests. For some reason LASD hired them back. And some more then once. I don't know if I want a partner who failed the academy twice.

It may be different now but when I was in the academy the LD tests worked like this. If you fail an LD test, you can take it over again. If you fail it again then you're out. If you fail three LD tests, even if you take them again and pass, then you're out.

I have heard of some guys getting kicked out due to attitude, physical fitness, educational issues, and issues of immoral behavior while enrolled. In my level one academy one guy failed to meet the physical requirements to keep up with class and he ended up dropping out. Another failed an LD twice. From what I heard, it wasn't just by a few answers either.

In my reserve class, one failed due to LD tests, and we lost four in the first week because they didn't like being yelled at.

I didn't, but there were several in my academy that did. A couple for being caught cheating, one for not being able to pass the report writing LD and one didnt pass because of an injury he was unable to complete the detac portion.

I did NOT fail the academy, but I had a friends who did. Most were lost to either LD Tests and Tactics Tests. All were rehired, entered the next available class, and passed with flying colors.

In regards to those who were injured during the academy. They were just recycled and entered a new class at the same time they were injured (i.e. Injured 8th week, enter a new class thats in their 8th week).

Hope this info helps

Not for us. They had to start at teh beginning. We were told that this is a POST requirement. Because LD tests come and go. Some tests the academy before us took we didn't and they added a few for ours. One LD test the passing score was 20% because no one had taken it yet and they didn't have a baseline.

Ditto ,Sarge- prouidly completed my PC 832 course, then my Reserve academy at rio hondo and lastly,My basic Police Academy at LAPD1 all thats required is that you dedicate yourself to doing to study time, reading, and what ever assignments that the academy staff send your way ! alot of people who bomb out on academics, just weren't applying themselves-they allowed "personal issues"( more concerned wih family life,or off duty time) to knock them out of a job,and thats becuase they "assumed" police owrk was like their previous careers-theyhad that "just get thru it " mentality. The physical? well that happens and sometimes can't be avoided.....
