Does anyone have info on Murrieta PD. I checked their web site, the pay is a little lower than what I make now but is there POST incentive pay? Retirement plan? Web site shows city pays 7% what about the other 2%? Morale, ease of promotion and assignments. Any help would be great.

Just had a friend go there. I can't give you specifics but he likes it. Seems to be a good department with good brass.

There will be no ease of promotion and assignment within MPD. The majority of the officers you will be competing with are laterals with tons of experience. I have a friend who started with MPD shortly after the city incorporated, and is now an Ops. Lieutenant. The morale is good, and they have a brand new station. The City of Murrieta is a great place to live, and you'll actually be able to afford a home within the city ;)

We had several of our guys lateral up there a couple of years ago too. They seem to enjoy it up there.

I have a friend from Southgate P.D. who went there when they first started Murrieta P.D. He ended up back at SGPD and then to us years later. He said it was too boring,,but I think that was years ago when the PD was brand new. Murrieta is starting to boom and have their fare share of problems (crime wise). We had another guy just lateral there because he lives in the city and it was more convenient for him. As far as what I hear, it's a good place to work..but it sounds more like a place where laterals want to flock for various reasons.

I'm fairly sure they have 3% at 50. Real progressive city, not a huge crime problem, and is growing fast. I have a friend that went there when they first incorporated, he's still there and glad he made the change.
