Shooting near Monahans,TX

Anyone have info or a link in regards to the shooting the other day? From what little my local news showed there was a deputy that responded to a domestic and was stabbed to death by the husband. He did manage to shoot and kill his attacker before he passed.

Time of Incident: 1619 hours

Tour of Duty: 11 yr
Suspect Info: Shot and killed by Deputy Russ
Weapon Used: Knife

Deputy Russ died after being stabbed while at the scene of a domestic disturbance. Deputy Russ had responded to a 911 call placed by the suspect's wife. Deputy Russ was the first officer on the scene and became involved in a struggle with the suspect who stabbed him with a large knife. After stabbing Deputy Russ the suspect then stabbed his wife to death. Deputy Russ was then able to shoot the suspect, killing him, before he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Deputy Russ is the first Ward County deputy to be killed in the line of duty. He had been with the agency for eleven years and is survived by three children.

My thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Russ and his family.

Our Department sent our Honor Guard to the funeral today. One of the sad, proud duties they perform all too often.
