Date of Incident: October 23, 2000
Time of Incident: 1300 hours
Age: 37
Tour of Duty: 10 yr
Suspect Info: Shot and killed by other deputy
Weapon Used: Shotgun
Deputy Risley was shot and killed after responding to a disturbance call in a rural section of the county near Tomball. A family at the residence reported that a man had shown up at their home with a shotgun and claiming the Mafia was following him. Deputy Risley arrived on the scene and requested backup before he was shot and killed by the suspect. Deputy Risley's backup arrived and asked the suspect where Deputy Risley was. The suspect pointed in the direction where his body lay and raised his shotgun before being shot and killed by the second deputy.
Deputy Risley had been with the agency for 10 years and is survived by his wife and two children.
