Placer County SO and Nevada County SO.

I want of lateral up north. I have applied to Placer County SO and Nevada County SO. Are both agencies receptive to laterals from southern California? Thanx for any input.

If I had to choose I would go with PCSO. An excellent dept. with great Deputies and SGT's. ( and lots of money thanx to south Placer county.) I am sure they would be receptive to laterals from anywhere.... I have seen some from the south when I was a CO there..

My home is in unincorporated southern PC and I've called them a few times for minor issues and never been dissatisfied with the service. I suspect the deputies are under pressure from their sergeants to stay productive and stay on their beats. They are constantly making traffic stops on the semi-rural roads in my area.

I also covered them on a call that rolled over into my town and the five deputies I met seemed squared away. Not as many specialized assignments or hiding places as Sacramento SD but no jail time either.

The county is in the process of approving 14,000 homes and other accompanying development in between the Sutter County Line and Roseville. If this happens the south county beats will certainly have to expand creating some growth in the department. A downside of this agency that I can see is that you can get assigned to North Lake Tahoe where home prices are pretty high. The deputies assigned there get a pay bump but if you're looking for affordable housing its on the other end of the county or in the boonies.

I think Sheriff Bonner might have some political pull also. I saw a Schwarzenheger bill signing of some law enforcement oriented bill and the three sheriff's that were closest to him were Bonner, and the sheriffs from L.A., Orange, and Sacramento.

But the DSA is at impasse with the county for a new contract. They say they have no money, but seem to have enough to spend $10 million dollars on open land in the Martis Valley.:mad:
