Does anyone have any info on them. I'm already applying with R.S.D, S.D.S.D. and CDCR. So I'll probably hold off on Riverside Police for now.
Under the Hiring process letter I received they list seven steps.
Application
Written Exam
PAT/ Submit PHS
Oral Interview
Background
Command Oral
Conditional Offer Of Employment.
What is the command oral?

The Command Oral is an interview with the Capt. and/or Lt. in charge of personnel. At mine, the Capt. wasn't available, so I sat down with the Lt. and several other folks from Personnel and Training.
It wasn't as structured as the earlier oral interview. It was more for them to sit and talk to you, to make sure you are going to fit what they are looking for. They went over their expectations of me while going through the academy, if I was to get hired. I walked out of there pretty confident I had the job. Due to the Capt. not being present, I had to wait a couple days for the final word.
The Sgt. from Personnel called me a couple nights later and told me I was hired! From there I attended the pre-academy (Two weeks), academy (Six months) and completed the FTO program (Six months).
The department uses both the RSO and SBSO academies. It depends on when you get hired and which academy starts next. I attended SBSO's academy.
RPD is the only agency I have applied with or worked at, but I can tell you that I am very happy to be here and the department has been great to me.
I highly recommend to anyone out there to check us out. The pay is good, there are plenty of advancement opportunities and special assignments. The department isn't too big, where you become just a number and it isn't too small, where there is a lack of opportunities.
If you have any other questions let me know. I'll try to answer them for you or get you in touch with those who can.
Good luck and be safe,
Jeff

After the background you will get the conditional offer of employment. Which is required legally, before they can do the medical, psych. & poly.
The command oral will be after everything is done and they are ready to make you the final offer of employment.
