Hi,
Few days ago I completed all tests and interviews required to become a specialist in the department of criminal prevention at The Main Police HQ in Warsaw, Poland. I should get employed full time starting September.
The tasks I am going to perform are connected with international police cooperation and implementation of foreign operating methods and equipment within the Polish Police Force. I think I am going to like the job a lot.
I ve got an MA in American Studies and BA in European Studies, and therefore the job suits my interests allright.
For the past few days I enjoyed reading threads here and I decided to become a member myself. So I hope its going to be great pleasure sharing experiences with you guys.

As to what they teach at American Studies Center of Warsaw University:
first year are general courses like: US Politics, US History, US Geography, History of US Literature, US expansionism and so on...
Later you choose specific courses in order to specialize in a very narrow field and acomplish a dissertation on the specific topic.
I chose American 19th century literature, but I decided to combine the 20th century with the 19th, and the title of my dissertation was "Stephen King's American Gothic" (it was a real pain to get it done, believe me).

Ello there,
For 5 years I went to high school and sixth form in North Wembley where I got my GCSE's and A-levels. It was hell of a long time ago, but nevertheless I have tried to maintain he high level of both spoken and written English.
Btw, I ve got a friend in Peterborough - working in the local hospital, but I am not planning to move abroad because of my wife (who is successfully employed here) an my 4 month old son. :-) But in the future...why not. ? :-)

Peterborough is where I'm working at the moment...seem to be paying a visit to speak to someone at the hospital most shifts...It's that kind of job.....
Good luck with your new job.

We have a few rest stops on corners in Chicago called "taverns." Most have signs telling what area of a country the inhabitants come from. Where is the "Zimny Piwo" area of Poland?
Welcome..
