If you have a POSt recert waiver apply somewhere else. Why go through an academy again? High stress? Yes. Very physical.

Other then that I have two friends that went to them and were on the street after less then 18 months in the jails.

The academy, as an instructor put it, is a "Modified High Stress" Academy. I don't know if that's because it's high stress everywhere but the classroom or for some other reason. I can tell you that it is physical and they will get in your face. Just remember that there's a reason for all of it. The staff does a good job making sure that everybody understands it.

As for working the jails, I keep hearing that they need bodies out on the street and they plan to send out several people straight to patrol after the academy. It depends partly on what station you want to work but it also has to do with how you perform while at the academy.

Good luck on the rest of the process. Just keep your eye on the price.

Jail time is approx 18 months. There are guys that go straight to patrol from the academy. I don't see why you would need to go through the academy again, but then again I've heard of a lot of depts doing that to guys. I've seen guys graduate the extended class, get hired the following day and then get sent through the full time class. Maybe I'm stupid but that sounds like a waste of money.
