Feels great, but I can't wait to start training in the field. That will be awesome!
Yeah, Im not sure why. Maybe it has to due with being able to defend it for the last month...thats the best theory we were able to come up with as it hasnt been explained to us, yet.

What divisions are you going to request?

Central - Know a few people there and its close to home
Southwest - Good to start on the southend and Ive heard good things
NHWD - They pretty much sent the 2/07 class to the valley, so if thats my fate...this one is the closest to home
What division do you work?

congrat,Berlioz! long battle almost half way home(you still got the ups and downs of probation! The "badge ceremony" is a time of achievement- it means that you finally begun to understand the duties of a police officer and have worked hard at learning the basics. Will your family and friends come up for the ceremony? do they STILL tell you to boil the coating off the badge to shine it better? Hint-don't do it until the coating starts to wear thin!

congrats berlioz. I heard a lot of the classes are getting 18xxx and lower badges now. I had a 20xxx badge. I agree with DOACops advice to not boil the badge. Stays shiny longer.

You get a badge before you graduate? Do they give u your CCW at the time also? It's just odd to me.
Congrats. Don't let it go to your head!

I went through the 8 month acad and they gave it to use 2 months before grad.
I couldn't carry off duty until the Footbeat (1 month before Graduation).

As was said they surely don't allow them to carry CCW for awhile. That being said...there is no CCW permit needed for a sworn FT LEO.

My parents, wife, sis, and grandmother attended and my mother pinned it on me. The badges are actually recycled I believe, so I dont know if it has been boiled already. Hotter than Hades today in class A uniforms...i cant wait for probation though.

Since they're recycled badges, it's too bad you couldn't request a real "Policeman" badge.

Congrats. When out in the field, do everything like your Sergeant or Dad was watching you, and you'll do fine.

Heed some of the advice on these posts. Remember there is always someone out there who wants to shove that badge up your ......, I won't go any further. Don't let it get heavy and treat people with respect. Remember most of them are not dirtbags, but good working folks like most of us.
Have fun, be careful and retire happy!
