A female Chicago police officer was found beaten to death in her South Side home this morning in what police described as a "domestic situation".
A neighbor this morning found one of the 31-year-old woman's five children wandering near the family home on the 6300 block of South Latrobe Avenue, according to Chicago police spokesman Pat Camden. Camden said the crying child told the clerk of the woman's death.
According to police, the woman -- an Eighth District patrol officer who joined the force in May 1997 but whose identity was being withheld pending notification of relatives -- was found dead in her bed, apparently struck by a blunt object.
Police were looking for what Camden described as "known suspects."
An autopsy was being performed today on the woman, whose children range between the ages of six months and 13 years.

Please keep the family and friends of this officer in your prayers.

A Warrior expects to face confrontations involving dangers of life and limb when they are on the 'job'.
To find that in the santity of one's own home, that should represent safety for one of our own, as well as any citizen in our society is a myth. That is a sad legacy we are forced to carry today.
For we find that all barriers we consider sacred are in danger of being over run by the evil elements in today's world.
One of ours has driven that point home. That we should be on guard each and every moment in every day is impossible. But it has to be done, each and every day.
A Guardian is a testament to that today.
Rest in Peace Sister.
The home given to you now is safe. The angels of heaven are your Warriors, your Guardians.
Your transfer has been approved.
Rest in Peace...

CJ...
Have you heard any more about this? Have they arrested anyone? Who has the children?
If you have further reports... will you post them, please?
I think domestic violence touches so many lives... and that does not exclude the lives of our Officers.
My thoughts and prayers do go out to this family. I'll ask God to see them through.

Early Thursday morning, Officer Sexton's ex-boyfriend, who was wanted for questioning in the case, fled to the Wisconsin Dells area. Officers up there attempted to stop the boyfriend, who bailed out of the vehicle and hid in a nearby forest. He was found and taken into custody late Thursday night. Also found in the field was Officer Sexton's Chicago PD issue handgun.
Another sad twist to the story: two Milwaukee County Sheriff's Deputies were killed when their chopper crashed while searching for the suspect.
Hopefully justice will be served in this case. It sounds as though investigators have 'got their man'.

Oh, CJ... this is tragic news. I'm glad they got the guy... but to know that two more lives have been lost to find him is heartbreaking.
I don't know if there will be a line of duty report done for the female officer, but I am sure they will do a line of duty report on the two officers who were searching for her killer. When it is made available... I will post it.
May peace find a way to all of these families.

Rebecca,
I hope you don't mind if I did the posting. It was the very least I could do for 2 fallen brothers as I also work for Milwaukee County.
I never expected to be wearing a black band across my badge so soon after putting it on.

Cuffer...
The postings were beautiful. My concerns are for you and your community. This is all such an overwhelming senseless loss... as America has lost three fine Officers... because of one heartless human being. I am saying my prayers for all of the families... and my thoughts are for you Cuffer... and for those suffering there with you now.
I've already told you, but I will tell you again... if you need a shoulder, I am here.
