First off...........HELLO! :) <--This will be the last time I use a Smilie (I promise)
Today is the first post for me, but I have been doing alot of reading the last couple of weeks. I'm not the first to say it, but it's a tremendously informative website!
I'm in Orange Co. California, and have decided to try and get hired on here as a Deputy with the Sheriff's Dept.
I've tried to get on with a few others here in Socal, but due to a few trials and tribulations as a young man (coming up on 20 years) I unfortunately was DQ'd. (last time I tried was just before 9/11)
I've always had an interest in LE dating back to when I was a Toddler. My mother was a Dispatcher for the Police Department in the city that we lived in, which is located in a Suburb of Detroit; and I was one of those little guys that was always running around the station. I went on to play kiddie cop with the Explorer program later in my teens, but also decided to be STUPID and break a few laws. (Misd's) I thought I was going to be a cop, and hadn't thought about anything else ever....Real bummer as I look back, and no one to blame but myself.
So with the support of my mother (God Bless Her) , and after twenty years of floating around from job to job (literally hating everyone of them) and trying to kindle a love for a new career, I've decided to try again.
I road the last bubble out in the Mortgage Industry, made some decent money along the way ; but hated the office game.
Believe it or not, recently I have been employed as a ever so low paying Security Guard job here in a Local Hospital; AND HAVE LOVED LIFE! I wish rather frequently that it paid more of course. And don't get me wrong, It's not a LE position; ( and I know how some LEO's feel about SG's) but I get to help people and its incredibly fullfilling. I haven't felt this good about a job in my entire life! This of course triggered the "Brain Housing" to go after what I've wanted to do my entire life so I can enjoy my job and not have to work; because you know what they say. "if you like your job, you never work a day in your life".
So, step one is August 18th, at 06. I know it's not going to be easy, but I guess you could say even after 20 years; I haven't given up!
So Semper Fi, Hooah (yes I did both) and stay safe out there!
