What's SDPD Like?

I’m thinking about coming to CA, from MN to work as a police officer. I have my Degree in criminology. MN skills training and MN POST. I’m 43 and work in health care. I have always wanted to be a police officer and I don’t want to look back regret that I did not try. I have 2 marks on my background. 1. DWI in 2002. 2. Bad credit, due to house I owned. I got caught up in the big housing boom and bought a house I could not afford.

IV talked to recruiter in San Diego. And she said, just test and see what happens. If anyone has any advice, or can recommend other departments. I take constructive criticism well.

You probably won't get hired anywhere in CA with a 5 year old DUI.

A DUI 5 years ago is a tough one to overcome here in socal. A lot of departments are hiring like crazy, but the liability is still there and its going to be tough for you.

Id say apply. If nothing has happened since the DUI then you would have a pretty good chance. I would talk to more background investigators in the SoCal area. Good luck.
