All because of a dispute over a dog...

Age: 38
Tour of Duty: 13 yr
Suspect Info: Shot and wounded
Weapon Used: Gun; Unknown type
Sergeant Stamper was shot and killed after responding to a neighborhood dispute over a dog. During the argument, the suspect shot his neighbor to death and began shooting at other neighbors who were attempting to help the wounded man. As Sergeant Stamper and other officers arrived on the scene the suspect opened fire on them. Sergeant Stamper was fatally wounded during the ensuing gun fight. The suspect was taken into custody after being shot twice.
Sergeant Stamper had been with the agency for 13 years and is survived by his daughters.

I want to say that this was such a senseless death... and it is, because it should have never happened... but this Sergeant put himself out there for the safety of innocent bystanders... and that's really what this job is all about... protecting.
