One of our members on the forum contacted me this morning to ask me to bring this woman's death forward to the forum... and included a link for the Detroit News that gives us a more thorough and detailed description of what happened to Officer Mason.

This is a tragic case that shows what can happen to our LEO's at any given time. This woman was taken so young... and so dedicated.

May she rest in peace... and may her family feel all of our prayers.

One further note... especially for the member who contacted me...

The Officer Down Memorial Page is a wonderful site for paying tribute to our fallen Officers. Officer Mason has a page of her own... and the beauty of her young face shows on the picture already posted.

Here is the link for her page...

If you would like to leave a reflection... this very compassionate site offers you the opportunity to do so... and welcomes you.

Again, I second your thoughts. It is very scary and sometimes I would rather remain numb to the reality of something like this happening.

It's true though, you as an LEO might just p!ss off the right person and through no fault of your own, he or she might be out trying to seek revenge. You are just doing your job and it's terrible that an LEO may have to pay the ultimate price for it.

Let's hope to God that this stuff stops happening. "Ok Lisa...we are not in munchkinland anymore". But we can pray. http://www.officer.com/ubb/smile.gif

For one so young to have to give the supreme sacrifice for so petty of a thing, an argument no less. Her future would have held so many wonderous things. A family, a career with so many possibilities. All lost and gone forever by a maniac with a gun.

Rest in Peace Sister. Your short tour is done. May you find joy and comfort as your reward...Rest in Peace

Yes it is a tragidy and I hope that her family has all the support in the world in thier time of need. It is always sad to see a LEO go down and real sad when it is a younger officer off duty. I will say a extra prayer tonight for her and her family.

Be safe out there
