Suspect Info: Arrested later in day
Weapon Used: Handgun
Officer Leon was shot and killed while stopping a man suspected of being in a shooting on the previous day. While questioning the man, Officer Leon was shot in the face. The suspect escaped after being involved in a chase with other officers, but was arrested later in the day. The suspect was on parole from a 10-year sentence for a 1995 attempted robbery conviction. Officer Leon was transported to a local hospital where he passed away. He had been with the agency for six years and is survived by his wife and three young children.
