Ok, my family and I are at the beach. I have purchased about 10lbs of snow crab legs, but I have never cooked them before. Does any one have any tips or links to great crab leg cooking? Of course I will steam them and I have some seasoning, I'm just trying to make them perfect!! Thanks in advance!!!

Not too familiar with the snow crab. With blues we hose them down, rip off their back; eyes; mouths remove the gills, and scrape the inards (while still alive; they're not too fond of it but what the heck; we're eating them!); stack them evenly in the pot, sprinkle a little vinegar and old bay on each row, put water and a can of beer in the bottom portion of the steamer and steam away. YUM!
The back rip off was something novel my in-laws showed me. Sounds gruesome but once you've done em this way, the conventional method doesn't stack up. Oh yeah; wear gloves!!!
I suppose (minus the back rip); you could do something similar with snows.
My family is from Florida. They always boil the crabs in a huge pot while they are still alive and well (no need for back ripping, though I have never tried that before). They will turn from blue to red while in the pot. We also place whole potatoes, onions and crab boil in with it. DON'T FORGET THE CRAB BOIL!! It is really good! It also seasons the potatoes when everything is finished boiling. However, I forgot how long it takes to boil them.

Boil, don't steam, and make sure you've got a good crab-boil seasoning.

Time depends on volume (how many),and boiling is the only way to go,shrimp are easiest, bring water and crab boil to a rolling boil, add shrimp, return to rolling boil,SHUT OFF the heat,(tip. after shutting off the heat, add enough ice to cool the water and stop the cooking process, cover, let set,the longer the spicier),cant get good crab boil??shoot me a pm ,will send you some,in the meantime, here is a recipe you can try from the makers of the best.

The real beauty of crab boil is even in the off season you can enjoy good eats, corn on cob smoked sausage, mushrooms, galic, onions, potatoes, etc. Here is a pic of my last crawfish boil.

Blasphemy!!!! All blasphemy!!!
Snow crab?!?!? Boiled blues?!?!? Rip off the backs?!?!?
Live blues in a pot to be steamed with Old Bay and beer. Vinegar is optional. Beer should be National Bohemian. Serve on newspaper with plenty of mallets.

Trust the Maryland boys when it comes to blues no body does it better. However any common domestic beer will do if you can't get Natty Boh (bud coors miller things along those lines)Also if you put ears of corn in the steamer they come out with really great flavor.

NATTY BOH!!!!! I don't even use mallets, just a nice butter knife and my mitts. You can also use a nice yeungling lager if you're short on boh. I don't know about this "crab-boil" business but go to baltimore and have the best STEAMED crabs in your life, with corn on the cob, old bay, and a ton of brews.

If you have not tasted crab, boiled with crab boil, then you have not tasted crab, my friend. Depending on the type of crab boil you get, just one taste will make you smack your momma!!!!
