Corporal Courville was killed after being involved in an accident while driving to assist another deputy at an alarm call. During his response, Deputy Courville's cruiser struck the back of a pickup truck on I-10. After striking the pickup truck, his cruiser left the highway, struck a tree, and caught fire. The cruiser's emergency equipment was not activated at the time of the accident. Corporal Courville was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries sustained in the accident. He had been with the agency for five years.
