Suspect Info: Charged with first-degree homicide
Weapon Used: Alcohol and automobile
Lieutenant Clark was killed when his cruiser was struck head-on by a drunk driver. Lieutenant Clark and another deputy were returning from a prisoner transport when the drunk driver crossed the center line of U.S. 441 in Putnam County, Georgia. The pickup truck struck the front driver's side corner of the cruiser, crushing it. Lieutenant Clark was killed instantly.
The second deputy was transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The suspect was charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, and driving on the wrong side of the road. Lieutenant Clark had been with the agency for 29 years and is survived by his wife, son, and three daughters.
