Aug 12 I'm going to St Louis to see the Dodgers play the Cardinals. Can anyone recommend an area to stay and things to see or do? I'm getting there that Sat and leaving Tue. Any help or tips would greatly be appreciated.

The interstate system is pretty good so you can stay in a hotel (usually cheaper and closer to the airport) and still be to the game in a fairly short amount of time. If you have a day to mess around go to the zoo, six flags and/or the arch. It pains me to say this (I live in the KC area) but St. Louis is great place to visit.

Just outside of St. Louis less than 30-40 minutes from I-270:
Purina Farms in Gray Summit (Agricultural park)
Daniel Boone Home off Hwy F near New Melle, MO (Hwy 40)
Wineries on Hwy 94 south of Hwy 40
Wineries on Hwy 100 between Washington, Mo and Hermann, MO
If you like Thoroughbred Horse Racing go to Fairmount Park Just over in Illinois off I-70/I-270-255.
As far as hotels near the city....I'd stay at any of the downtown hotels Renissance (sp), Sheraton, Hilton, Courtyrard(s), Hampton Inn, union station, etc...
There are a lot of Bed & Breakfasts around too.
Dinner on "The Hill" is a must for Italian food. If you can handle St. Louis Style BBQ Go to Super Smokers restaurant in Eureka, Mo off I-44. They are closed on Sundays. I like to eat Bosnian food at GRBIC and Bosna Gold restaurants in South City area. Also Russian food at Zhivagos in Chesterfield/Town & Country. Also very good is Afghani food at Sameems on South Grand in the City. (its really good you gotta try it). If you want to be set back big time $$$$$ but an awesome dining experience try Cafe de France in the city.
Enjoy!
