I went through polic academy in 2002 and have not been hired since then. I was 21 at the time and had previously and for a little while after had some job instability. I was working collections and sales jobs that were very unstable. I am almost 26 now and have been in the National Guard and going to college for a year now. I am hoping that shows some good stability, an 8 year contract has to show some sort of commitment. I just finished basic, infantry training and airborne school. I will be back home in three days and will begin applying with depts. soon. I am also undeployable for almost 4 years. I am trying to get a feel for my chances now. I have cleaned things up as far as my job goes and credit as well. If anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it.

It is in my contract. I have 2 years for College First, but my Rotc contract trumps my Guard contract. I actually meant 3 years of undeployability. I am not trying to avoid being sent over, I actually don't mind going but I have goals to meet first in the Guard. My unit is already in Iraq and they are not bringing me along even if I was deployable so....
Does anyone have any input other than the comments about me being undeployable?

if you are doing rotc and college, you arent gonna be able to do that and be a full time cop. if you are looking part time, you might be able to do so. otherwise, sounds like you have done good and are continuing to do good and i'd say go for it, start applying.

If it became a problem I could just skip the Rotc and go to ocs later. It should not be a problem because it basically works like an elective class and is only 1 day a week. I might do all the other classes online. I have already talked to the cadre and he said I could skip the pt that is three days a week as well as a few other things since I have been through basic/ait and airborne. My main goal is to be a cop, I primarily joined the national guard to help me be a police officer.

Dude.....get you degree and then worry about being a LEO......
Once you become a LEO.....there is no way in the world that you will be able to get your degree finished for at least your first few years of working.....then you won't want to finish....
You get hurt, you not being able to make background, you not wanting to do it because of family issues.....will end up having you on the streets and not being able to have a job to support yourself and/or your family......
Get your degree then assess your options....and figure out if you want to do the military thing or the LEO thing.....then go from there......
