Yeah there are books out there to help. Jus tlike alienbow says, don't get too nervous. Everyone will get nervous; they know that. Know the job - know what the job is about and what it entails. I'm not sure what your background is but I have interviewed for four dispatcher jobs in the past and they were pretty laid back.

Overall, I have been to about ten public safety related interviews in my life. None were the same. Be prepared though. Don't show up and be surprised when they ask you about he position you are applying for. Even if it is entry level, they want you to have an idea of what it is about.

You'll definitely get hit with situation questions, like "You are sitting at your desk and you get 911 call for a child not breathing, at the same time you notice through a glass window that an officer is fighting with a prisoner and appears to be losing control. What do you do?"

I remember answering, "I would call for immediate assistance over the radio for additional officers to respond to the station and then I would physically assist the officer with the prisoner. After the prisoner is secure, I would return to the 911 call."
