Just saw this on USAJOBS.OPM.GOV. Is this a correctional officer job or more of a paperwork type position(don't mean to offend anybody here)?

I believe they work in the mailroom screening incoming inmate mail and also deal with inmate sentence computation issues.

Thanx.

Do you know if they take a test or just apply and see if you qualify for an interview? Do they go to an academy?

They usually hire them from the ranks of BOP correctional officers, but I know there is no test so you just apply. If you are a new hire to the BOP, you have to go through a three week training course.

I would post your questions in the Corrections Forum. There are lots of BOP people who post there.
