What can anyone tell me about these guys?
Do they get take homes?
What is the pay and benefits like?
Fill me in, I know I can apply online, but I don't want to spend time applying for a department that may not be a good place to be.

Do a search. There have been multiple threads on that fine agency.
They get take-homes, pay is ok....though some suburbs in the KC or STL area pay better. They are well respected and your duties depend on where you get stationed at.
If you get out in the rural areas of the state, you could be the law.....as a Sheriff my only have him and a couple of Deputies. You get stationed around the larger cities, you will be doing a ton of traffic and not get into much criminal stuff.

I found this website :

It gives information on a lot of benefits.

They just got a huge pay raise...so don't expect another for about 10 years. Their academy is internationally recognized and very militaristic. I work for an SO in the KC metro and we have some really good troopers. Just remember, like any organization there are good and bad people.
Overall, if you want and enjoy working traffic MSHP is definitely the way to go.

And that is an understatement.
I have known a few military folks that have dropped out because they didn't want to go through the hassle again or just couldn't handle it.

One thing to consider as well is that (as far as I know) you dont have much if any control over where you go. And that just doesnt apply to starting out. I worked with troopers that have been on for several years...and as soon as they got settled in to the area, boom, they got switched to the other end of the state for whatever reason. They are a quality department. Real squared away, but honestly I can never understand why someone would want to work for them. It seems like a much better idea (to me at least) to get on with a quality PD or SD and find some stability and more likely better pay.

Starting with the upcoming class, they are going to try to folks where they want for their first assignment.
From there, one usually can expect several moves. They will not let you stay in your zone if you get promoted. You will be moved within the Troop.
You do have to remember that you are at the needs of the state and will be required to move anywhere that they may need you.
If my eyes wouldn't so crappy, I would have tried to get on with them.

Actually, you can stay in your zone if your number comes up when the opening is there. While most people do make several moves during their career, you don't have to. As long as you don't get in trouble and don't mind possibly passing up some opportunities you can stay where you like. I have never heard of anyone being moved for the needs of the state without their consent or some other extinuating circumstances.

Usually that's the case (what's in bold). And it's usually because of disciplinary actions and then being banished to Troop E or G.
One of the Troopers in my Zone has been there about 10 years. He's passed up SGT several times (he didn't want to move) but the Patrol finally promoted him and let him stay in the area. It's a dual zone so he just moved over to the other zone.

I would rather be in G and E than in B and most of A ,besides Buc county. There is nothing wrong with working in the true Ozark mountians and backwoods... Deliverance should have been filmed in G however. !!

Not me. I was/am happy in the land of Troops A and H. But that's just me.
Same stuff that's down there is available there, just more folks and stuff to do. ;)
I could/can drive 30 mins or less from KC and St. Joe and fish/hunt/hike/etc......
