What are your opinons on becoming a BP Agent as a stepping stone to an 1811? It seems like it would be a good "get your foot in the door" job. Also, what are the differences between a Fed LE Officer, Agent and Special Agent? I'm assuming it just comes down to different privliges. Lastly, does a BP Agent recieve LEAP? Thanks in advance.

It can be a good stepping stone or being a BP Agent can be a good careeer itself. I know several former BP Agents who are now 1811's. They are all very proud of their green past and are squared away folks. BP Agents get AUO (Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime), which can really make a difference on paychecks.
As for titles, federal LE Officer covers almost all federal law enforcement officers, including Special Agents, Border Patrol Agents, Deportation Officer, Immigration Enforcement Agents, Police Officers (countless federal ones), and a plethora of other LE positions. Titles are all up to the job series and agency. But even then, a job title may NOT actually have any LE authority. For example, the FAA has Special Agents who are unarmed and carry no LE authority. Also FAM's for example have an official title of Civil Aviation Security Specialist. How many times do you hear FAM's saying that?
Hope this helps...
