OK, my ultimate goal is to attain an 1811 position, but I need some advice on how to get here. If ya'll could reccomend the best agency for me to get my foot in the door with my education/experience, I would really appreciate it.
Here's my stats:
7 years active duty (non MP) USAF (2 combat tours)
AA in Info Tech
1 yr left to BA in Marketing
24 y/o
Without sounding cocky, I'm a hard charging guy who would be sucessful in a Fed LE career, I just can't seem to find a way to get in for an interview. I feel if I could sit down with the hiring board I could quantify my life experiences alot better.
Thanks in advance!

First, finish your degree as almost all 1811 positions require a degree. A degree won't make you competitive but ensure a high gpa so you may be able to qualify as a GS-07 vs GS-05 (more pay). A master's degree would make you more competitive.
Second, you need experience besides the military. Look into local departments and possibly ones that will help pay for you education. The US Border Patrol would be an excellent covered law enforcement position to start gaining experience.
Bottom line is that 1811 positions are competitive and you have to be impressive on paper to even get to the hiring board. The average age for a lot of entry level positions is in the late twenties so it would be difficult to compete with their work experience. Good luck.
P.S. Don't take my word for anything though. You can always apply and see what happens.

great advice up there. I have a BS in criminal justice, a cert in criminal profiling and CSI. i applied to ICE to be an 1811 SA 9 months before i graduated, now its a year after i have finsihed college and i have passed everything awaiting my final call for FLETC, so you can always roll the dice and see what happens, i have a year of LP exp. but my degree is what got me in, no LE, no milatary, good luck in your ventures, my advice is to find something your happy with for about two years b/c the process is very long, so maybe be a cop or something for a bit to get good field exp.

Finish your Bachelors degree. While some agencies technically don't require a bachelors degree, the reality is other than guys who have extensive experience in conducting complex felony criminal investigations (local detectives, and OSI/CID agents) applicants without a bachelors degree will not get a shot an 1811 job. Further, even the guys with lots of investigative experience from other LE jobs are unlikely to compete well without a bachelors degree.Without sounding cocky, I'm a hard charging guy who would be sucessful in a Fed LE career . . . Only time will tell. Good to be confident, but be careful how you display that confidence so that you don't come off cocky or arrogant. Remember, at this point you don't have any LE experience, let alone complex criminal investigations experience, so you're merely speculating on your ability to do this job. You have to convince the guys doing the hiring that you're worth taking chance on when they do their hiring selections.
Good luck.
