NYPD academics

Do they assign homework at the academy? Research papers, essays, that sort of thing? The only computer I have at home is my work computer, which I will need to turn in when I quit my current job. I'm shopping for computers, but I'm not sure how high a priority it should be.

Another question: Is it the kind of homework you can do on the train ride home? I've been looking at desktops, but if it's practical to carry a laptop and use it on the train maybe that's a better choice.

personally with the prices of laptops vs desktops, if you can afford the slight difference i'd go wit ha laptop just because you can at least carry the computer around if you ever needed...

and from what i understand from what some people have told me, its more reading than anything.
