Take the phone just have it on silent and do not have it exposed basically they dont want you have it out on the open text messaginbg people for answers or taking any calls during the test or your ringer to interrupt the test. Take it with you and have it either on silent or vibrate mode thats all.

I left my phone in the car and may have been the only one. If you plan on using it as a watch or something, don't bother...you can't take it out during the test. If you are concerned about not having it while using mass transit, I would say just shut it off and stick it your pocket a block away from the test.

Good luck on the test!!

I agree, just turn it off and you'll be fine. Everyone had phones with them when I took the test.

BTW, if you want to bring a calculator bring a very simple one. If it's a big scientific model, you won't be allowed to use it.

yea thats what i thought i havent been on the train or subway in like 6 or so years and then i wasnt even by myself lol im probably gonna drive down park near pelham bay where the 6 train starts and just take that all the way down. I think it would be easier then taking metro north down to grand central then gettin the 6 train. Plus that saves me like 14 bucks

I'm taking the test there on Sunday, the 24th and I'm coming up from New Jersey. Does anyone know of any good websites that helps with subway/train directions? Also, does it matter what you wear to take the test?

Look on the MTA Website there is actually a number you can call that has an operator that can you give you the best possible directions to your location. You can wear anything you want, just dont wear your birthday suit. I dont think the others will apperiate it.

if' i'm coming to the city, i'll need my cell phone to get in contact with other people after the test for some dinner or what not.

I think i'll need a backpack because i'm bringing a snack and some energy drinks, iPod, etc etc.... hope they let me in, otherwise i'm screwed.

Did anybody else find any problems with the Kidnapping question over force? Was it just me or did none of the answers fit the question...

what was the general topic of the question???

The answer to the kidnapping was there. Hint: Force doesn't have to be physical.
I took the test today. You do need pencils. We didn't use a calculator at all. And a lot of people had phones, they just had to turn them off and put them away.

I didn't know they were having another test on June 24th. Are you sure?

See now I thought the word force was completely implying physical. However, since the other 3 selections were so obviously wrong, I went with the only one I thought could've possibly been looking for, even though I personally thought it wasn't exact either.

And yeah, I was alittle worried about forgetting to bring a calculator but thankfully they were never needed. Good thing too, there was hardly enough room on those f'n desks as it was.

I don't remember clearly, but it was basically about what best constitutes a kidnapping through the use of force. There were 3 completely wrong picks and then one that mentioned a car pulling up to a boy, the guy in the car yelling at the boy to get into the car or else he'll hurt him, and the boy gets into the car. To me, that's threatening the boy.. but where's the force in that? He's not dragged into the car, he gets in it himself.

Then again, maybe it's just me.

The vision requirement for NYPD is 20/100 uncorrected. Do you think they would let someone in if they were 20/100 in one eye and 20/200 in the other eye(uncorrected but both correctable to 20/20)?

skibum81

they were pretty easy going last week with the eye exams.

what does that mean?

skibum81

an example would be people who could not read the lone they were told to, i think it was line 6. the guy would say, "try number 5," i know people who had trouble doing that, and they were fine. another example is someone forgetting their glasses, and as long as they were somewhat close, they would pass. they were fairly strict on the blood pressure and ekg results.

If you came through the door with a cane and a seeing-eye dog they would still hire you!

I thought the test went well.

And my guess is that 90% of people who took that test had a cellphone on them , lol.

When taking the test, are you allowed to look back at the descriptions, information, etc? Apart from the memorization picture of course...

Well, if you mean, look back through your questions 13-85 or so, then yes.

once the 10 mins for the memorization is over, you turn that booklet in, then a bell goes off and you can open up the test and complete that portion dealing with the memorization...then just continue with the rest of the testl, IIRC.

Does anyone have the answers for #6012(PM) on June 16, 2007? Oddly, DCAS didn't have the answers for numbers #21, 22 65 & 66?

I believe I got a 94%.

I put:

21.B
22.B
65.C
66.B

If anyone has different answers please post them...thanks!

My key also had missing answers. I took the test on June 24 during the AM session. I have six questions that I'm waiting to get answers for. I got three answers wrong from the entire test so far.

I was on the wrong page of that PDF file.

and the bottom row of questions on the June 16th PM 6012 test were missing, but now are up finally.

I believe I got about a 95.3 on that test :)

its not gonna happen fast.

you will be notified and go throught the processing fast, and then will have to wait till january to get into the academy.

If you got an 85 or better you WILL be in the january academy.

yeah unless you have a time machine, or you are blowing PC Kelly that aint gonna happen. The July class just went in on the 9th, the backfill class goes in on the 18th.

Yeah lol. I meant July 08.

I have to earn more college credits and get in shape / lose weight. I think 12 months is a reasonable goal for me, I'm aiming for July 08 as well.

Ditto. The damn thing was so easy I can really only recall one where I wasn't 99.9% sure of the answer, so I was like...why bother with copying my answers and checking them against the key? Silly me... :o

I think I'm going to call DCAS tomorrow and find out if the list has been made yet. APD doesn't seem to really deal with that part of it (when I've called them to ask about the list, they just direct me to DCAS).

All I know is...I can't wait for January. :D

I got a letter last week saying I have to be at the academy tomorrow, Sat 25 at 630. My letter didn't tell me what I got, it just said I passed the test & for me to be there in buss attire & to bring a pen along with my DD214.

Anyone else get the samething as I did?
