Im sure there is a wish list, but you will be assigned to your precinct. It will most likely not be what you want.

You get whats called a dream sheet and you write down what precinct you want to go to and eventually you'll get sent there, I really wouldn't bother doing it unless I was in the military because otherwise they're just gonna send you where ever they need you.

Well, I'll chime in with my own question here. I noticed that NYPD has a bunch of specialists. Like helicopter, Bomb Technicians and more. Anybody know what the a Specialist in Law is? It is listed among a number of specialists.
