Does anybody know what the pay is the east end towns (Riverhead, Southampton town/village, ect) in Suffolk County. I personally live in Flanders and a recruiter said there's a better chance at getting a letter from your town because they pick from a separate and much shorter list than Suffolk County does. From what I understand, the east end departments actually pay higher than the county does, but obviously since they're so much smaller, there's much less room for advancement. I would love get a high enough grade to be a position to pick which department to go with, but in any event it would still be nice to know the differences in pay.

So does anybody have any info on this at all? The almighty google has let me down... :-(

I live in Southampton, and am very close friends with some of their officers (SHVP). The pay for most of the east end towns is not higher than SCPD, however, it is very close. These departments are competitive, and those who have residency in the given township would likely be given preference (of course depending on examination results). There is less chance of advancement in a sense (b/c of smaller departments, there are less diversified units), but it is all what you make of it. I would say this, score a 90 or higher to even get a glance from any department (at least for MANY months), and be a resident for a better shot. Good luck to all!
