What does your dept. issue for duty ammo in your .223 rifle. I just got an issued Colt AR-15 A-3, strangely I am not issued ammo? Weird? I have been told a good hollow point such as Hornady TAP etc...

Federal TRU Ammo. I like it.

Hornady TAP 75 grain. Real nice stuff...

If going with Hornady TAP, get the heavier 75gr loading. The lighter loads don't penetrate adequately. They are more like ballistic tips, which are for prairie dogs and the like. If you can't find the Hornady 75gr TAP, get a 69gr BTHP from Federal, Winchester, etc...

My department issues Winchester Ranger 69gr BTHP ammo for our rifles.

Or, find some bonded ammo. It penetrates nicely. We shoot 62gr bonded match hollow points. But, we only get 20 rounds, so I have a bunch of SS109 ammo as backups.

Everytime i check, they only have a few boxes. Was talking to a dealer, all of it going to Iraq, and Afganistan.

Thats fine with me, I would rather the troops have it over there.
