Has anyone heard of departments in Johnson County restricting their foot pursuits. I heard this the other day and couldn't believe it. If true, what else are they going to restrict, traffic stops?

Restrictions on foot pursuits? You've got to be kidding me! Lemme guess, Stats show that 80% of all foot pursuits end with either the offender or officer colliding with a pedestrian and the department doesn't want that kind of liability. Maybe they limit just how fast you're allowed to run during that foot pursuit.
Sometimes I get the feeling I should get out while the gettings good and choose another occupation.

Your not to far off. I heard the restrictions were for chasing someone who is overweight in fear that he will have a heart attack. Or chasing someone into traffic and the suspect getting hit by a car. I have said, that kansas law enforcement is becomming very liberal. Criminals have caused the police to fear lawsuits and inturn, police departments begin changing policies. It will be a shame when law enforcment is just a term. When you can't enforce laws anymore and can only investigate some crimes.
