We are always short. That's what happens when you hire young kids and pay really crappy. No incentive for people to stay and it compromises the department at every turn. We hired a piece of sh&t who grabbed a deputy to keep him from getting at an inmate and the inmate punched the deputy while his buddy (the other deputy) kept calling the inmate by his street name. We're compromised at every turn..who knows what's being brought in.

And no, I don't recognize the name Hamel

Funny I should run across this post today. I was just about to create a post about this very thing. Tuesday at the facility directly next door to mine during a drug interdiction a Sgt. was found trying to smuggle 17.5 grams of cocaine into the facility. Yes, I said 17.5 grams. Yesterday a mock interdiction was held for the benefit of the local media. Below is a link to their website. Click the link, then click Video On Demand. Then scroll thru the videos until you see "Sniffing For Drugs" I work with a couple of the officers in the video and as I said this facility is directly beside mine.

If they are really big compromises I never see them, just hear of them later. A few weeks ago I caught one of our max level inmates with a remote control in his cell. (He is in a observation cell, one man cell all by itself with a big window in the wall). His TV is positioned at eye level outside his cell. We usually set it to one channel and he watches what WE put on. One night I see from the corner of my eye that the TV's channel was changing. I ended up finding out that one of our veteran SERGEANTS gave him the remote to "be good". I took it away and "lost" it so he could not get it back.

This inmate is from Texas prison and is a real A-hole. I guess he has two life sentences in Texas and is looking at one more here in California. Any of you Texas guys recognize the last name "Hamel"?
