I recently talked to Charlotte, NC police, because they were hiring. Their start pay is about $45,000 year. Nice city too.

Tons of agencies in SoCal are hiring, and paying well! Try any LA, Orange County, or outer county (San Bernardino and Riverside) agency. The outer counties will have more affordable housing, FYI.

But be prepared to start at around 55K, and then get significant raises in your first few years quickly boucing you up into the 70K area and upward. Oh, and did I mention the AWESOME 3% at 50 retirements???? Woooo Hooooooo!!!

I see you are located in Maryland? There are a ton of agencies in Maryland/Virginia that are hiring. You say you will relocate anywhere. Do you have the income now to support that move? Have you looked at Cost of living elsewhere, etc? My first agency I worked at in Maryland I could barely afford where I resided and had to look at another Agency for better pay. I was very eager to get into LE, however I had not looked at the cost of living, etc. That's great for you to say, you are willing to re-locate anywhere, however you may want to look/research your move before you actually take a job.

Cost of living is of course a factor. I would of course do research before I make up my mind I just wanted to get some ideas of other departments.

My opinion, and there are a thousand of them on here, go try Dallas TX Pd. They have a high need right now. They start high enough to pay for milk and bread, housing is affordable, and most importantly, they do a one trip testing for out of towners. If you hate it there after 2-3 years you will have some incredible experience you can take with anywhere. The $10,000 sign on bonus shouldn't hurt your feelings any either.

Go to a couple police employment job listings. You'll see where the job openings are.

Where in the world did you get that the starting salary for Charlotte, NC is about $45k? That's totally incorrect.

Sorry to say, but you have some major issues if you see nothing wrong with this administration. So you can stop your lamo "ITS DA LIBERALS" tardisms already. This is a bigger issue than your political name-calling.

At the risk of turning this into a political thread, I think you are wrong. This administration IS doing what is right.

In 20 years, when Iran and China are ruling the world and the former civility of American and European nations no longer exists thanks to the spread of terrorism (narco sponsored, state sponsored, and independently sponsored) we will be sitting around our war torn streets wondering why our leaders didn't strike when they could, why the head of the snake wasn't severed before its fangs grew in.

Nope, instead Pelosi is concerned about minimum wage and amnesty-ing cheap 3rd world labor.

Yep, this administration is doing the "big picture, visionary" thing instead of concerning themselves with popularity and poll numbers. They see that this country may not exist in half-a-century, whereas the other side of the aisle has their global-antennae firmly buried with their heads in the sand.

They concern themselves with today and their selfish needs. This administration is concerned about tomorrow for all of us.

FWIW,

EDJ

Central Florida agency seeking motivated CERTIFIED officers. Though we prefer FLORIDA certified (as we don't want to wait to put you on the road) we are willing to speak to out-of-state certified. Starting salary $35k (looking to bump up to $38k soon), great health insurance/dental/vision, take home a TAHOE within 10 miles of city limits, the BEST equipment available, excellent work environment. Close to lots of things to do in Orlando. We have 30 sworn, and are looking to expand...thus opportunities for advancement. Openings for traffic unit, marine patrol, bicycle patrol, etc. YOU let us know what YOUR interested in doing. Affordable housing (a NEW officer just got a BRAND NEW apartment for FREE), houses in area for as little as $1k down. Tuition reimbursement 100%, free drycleaning, all equipment (except boots) provided. I'm creating a new recruitment brochure as we speak, and would be more than happy to send you one via e-mail, should you be interested in working with an agency voted BEST PLACE TO WORK in our county! We currently have THREE openings for police officer and are seeking to fill them quickly. Let me know if there is any other questions you have and I would love to answer them. I work directly for the 2nd man in command, therefore working with me can guarantee a prompt response. Good luck.

Iran and China eh? You realize he was talking about Iraq right? ;)Yes I realized that, but he specifically mentioned that this administration is doing nothing right. Please don't tell me that your head is buried also if you don't see that the entire axis is linked, and China too is a part of that. What the others have, that Iraq lacks, is the present or near-future capability to go nuclear on us. And I have little hope that they will be as reserved in using theirs as we have been in using ours...possibly much to our ultimate demise.

How come every time you LIBERALS get the smallest chance to to bring up Bush and how he needs to be charged with war crimes?/ you do, even in a forum where a guy is simply asking for advice on a good agency to get started on. Moveon.org is the place for de-balled americans such as yourself to spew your complaints. Good luck, have a nice day.

This is the first time I've seen an infomercial on here :) If it sounds to good to be true.... what's the catch? I'd probably be all over it if I could swim. That's a sneaky little POST requirment only Florida has as far as I know.

SFPD starts at 75k, 85k after four years... Of course... the climate there, and I don't mean the fog...

I've applied for the Santa Barbara P.D - beautiful place, too bad I won't make enough money to buy a house even with a starting salary of 68k...

the central coast of California is in my (unbiased) opinion just about perfect. Plus everyone is actively recruiting it seems...
