School project

Hey everyone. I'm doing a presentation next week in my American Corrections class. It only has to be about 5 minutes long (there's 2 other guys in my group) and our topic is "Supermax Prisons: Why we need them." My subtopic for this presentation is the "type" of people that need to be a high security facility.

I'm asking for your expertise as part of my information gathering so I can start putting it together... sadly over spring break. What kind of people require high security and why? Now... I know there's the obvious answers, which I've already got listed, but there may be more reasons than I have for why. If you've got some extra time, I ask that you send some answers my way, being that you guys are the ones who deal with our friendly cell dwellers on a daily basis.

If you choose to help me out (send an e-mail through the forum), I also ask that along with your answer, you include your name, rank, what facility you work for, city, and state (so I can reference you since my professor (assistant warden for the federal penn in Oxford, Wisconsin) is requesting a full list of references). I mean, where better to get information than the CO's themselves?
