View Full Version : Hiring and reckless driving charge
Hi guys,
I stupidly got a reckless driving charge last year (DC area). The immediate result was a small fine and the ruin of a good driving record. But I also think I may have ruined my chances of ever being hired by a PD.
Is this correct?

What were you doing to be charged with it? Was it an OUI, dropped to that charge? did you cut off 4 lanes of traffic while swerving at 20 mph over the limit? Each senario will be looked at different on every agency you apply for. Also, maybe let some time go by before applying and have a clean record until then.

The Alabama Department of Public Safety would take a pretty hard look at a Reckless Driving charge, especially if it was recent. Other agencies might be a little more tolerant. In any case, the charge/conviction won't help you. It might be a good idea to put some time between the charge and your application to a LE agency.
