I am looking to find a department that will look at experience more
than past employment. I found out the hard way that the
grass is not always greener. Yes that means "termination". :(
Thanks for any suggestions.

Find the nearby agency that doesn't like your X-bosses and you're all set. If everyone thinks they are OK.... You're screwed.

Need more background. Where in CA are you? What is your age, fitness level, credit history, criminal history, education level, and previous experience?
Knowing this will help a great deal in answering your questions.

you were terminated as a sworn LEO? i just saw your profile... did you get fired or resigned due to whatever happened? was it something petty small(your sgt hated you) or something very serious ( you robbed a bank) ? don't tell me what happened.... no need for specifics if you don't want.
but yes you have the experience and i think a lot of departments will hire you as a lateral depending on what happened. try agencies not in the county, or smaller agencies. i know for sure an agency would pick you up with your training and experience.
did you get the association involved? or have those skelley hearings? i read about a lot of successful stores in Porac.

I agree it depends on what the issue was. I would start off with non-traditional agencies such as campus pd's or small airport pd's and build up your reputation again.

To answer your first question yes. I had 11+ years in as a LEO. It was a release during probation. I have a "so called" history of speaking up or speaking my mind. So this caused me some problems and it did not matter if I was right or wrong, but rather on probation.
NO, nothing criminal. Nothing in my package of any criminal or close to.
Due to the "probationary" status, I was a "at will employee" and any
department can termindate for no reason.
Thanks for the reply, but do you know of any departments that will even give me a shot?

thanks, good suggestion.
Not sure what the issue was. I had 2 FTO's one (25years exp) said I was great no problem. The other (10years exp) said I was all messed up didn't know how to do anything right. I think the problem was that I spoke my mind and spoke up too much.
thanks again.

i think if it's released from probation then you should have a good chance at other agencies...but of course maybe you ex-agency might say lots of bad stuff.. i dunno.
but i learned that if one is on probation, to be quiet and don't f* up.. :D
but you'll get hired. i'm sure university will pick you up.
