If you were suddenly given the title of Uniform Designer for your department and the Chief stated he wanted you to design the perfect formal dress, what would it be, colors, material, leather, hat, etc.?
My favorite is the Class A, 3/4 blouse used by Maryland, Utah, Arizona, among others.

I just unsuccesfully searched for a picture of the Ohio State Highway Patrol class A's. I love the look of the blouse and stetson.

I suppose a Hawiian shirt, cargo shorts and flip-flops wouldn't count, huh? :D
Seriously, I've always love the Rhode Island State Patrol Class A's. Very classy. Only they'd be brown with green piping around here.

Mine too.. it looks the most professional, and very unique considering the military (other than calvary i belive) doesn't even use this uniform style.

Naw, but a nice pair of Wranglers and some good HH boots with a black Stetson would make a damn fine uniform...
Seriously?..Marine Corps dress blues..no finer uniform on the PLANET!!!!

OSP's dress uniform is very sharp.

I like our Class A. Tan shirt, black tie, green Ike jacket, green pants, green Smokey hat. Basically, the standard California sheriff's office uniform. There is talk of adding a black stripe to the pants, but that probably won't happen.

I do not like those hats, on ANY agency. I prefer the campaign cover - personally. However, other than that, the uniform is pretty sharp.

I hate the stetson, but I love the combination cover. The campaign cover is okay (smokey the bear).
Im a cop in Florida and wear green all the time, but i was born and raised in NJ. To me a cop should look like the NJSP. I love the dark navy blue pants with thick gold stripe and li ght blue shirt with the leather shoulder strap. I wish we had that down here. Plus they wear that combination cover. Looks SHARP.
If it where up to me Sheriff's Officers in Florida would like like New Jersey Troopers. lol. I guess thats why I am not in charge though. One day maybe...One day...

The only uniform I liked on there was the special work uniform. Different culture I guess. But they sure as s**t have a lot of different uniforms.

check out Neptune Police Supply in Haverhill, MA. They make dress uniforms for LE agencies all over the country. They just made our new Class A's and they look excellent. Call and ask for Myron the SJ they will know who you are looking for.

I guess WHP took the Law and Order Magazine Best Dressed last year - I just found out!
And we still use the Ike Jacket like California! I still prefer the 3/4 blouse.

Most Maryland agencies wear the 3/4 jacket like MSP it's the hats that are different. My agency wears a navy jacket with blue/grey pants and a navy 8 point. Not a great pic but you can see our lodge board in theirs here:

i like the CA sheriffs uniforms, tan and green... although i do like riverside SO's law enforcement (not corrections) uniforms with the yellow stripe on the side of the pants to distinguish betweet corrections and law enforcement.
do most of your agencies require to wear those fancy caps? i've seen a lot of COPs and i see a lot of officers wearing them.

I wish I could get a cover. My agency wont even issue them out to us. Meanwhile I see Explorers with them. I dont get it.

Does your department have an approved cap or hat?
The California Highway Patrol went from the cap I am wearing to the Smokey Bear hat because of skin cancer claims.
You might approach your Chief with that argument. Perhaps he would authorize something to help you folks out.

Same here....well for actual street work that is.....I prefer function over pretty. Class A's have a place, but I prefer that place off the streets.

Our agency issues out ball caps, which look unprofessional and arnt even the same shade of color our uniforms are. They look very bad. Not to mention the admin says we can only use them for bad weather or while directing traffic. (not including traffic stops). The Sheriff (I assume, I really dont know) probably thinks the campaign cover is too intimdating for Joe Citizen and wants the SO to be more people friendly. (so I am told.)
I plan on mentioning it to someone. Especially considering explorers get them. That gets under my skin. Good point about the sun though. Especially since I am in the sunshine state.

For whatever reason, my department believes that wearing a tie should be reserved for "Class A" occasions. That's it. There's no mandatory coat, hat, or anything else. I'd love a nice campaign hat to wear every day, but that's not happening any time soon. Very basic here.
