In the UK, it seems to be a national sport among the media to have a go at the Police about something. We are all branded as incompetant racists by a large section of the community. We do not feel we have support from the government, our own management or the public. We are grossly under staffed and money in the service is very tight. Moral is incredibly low and Officers are leaving every day to pursue new careers. There have been law changes that have made the targetting of criminals almost imposssible, we seem to be "fire fighting" just responding to calls rather than proactively going after criminals.
So you could say that things arent much better here.

Welcome to our world...its been this way for years here in the U.S. No matter what happens, somehow it always becomes the cops fault. And just wait, it can get worse. Not only will you be blamed by the media, politicians and special interest groups for mishandling everything, you'll also start getting sued over every incident. If Europe follows America's lead, as it appears to be doing, what follows next will be civil law suits filed by greedy, schiester lawyers out to make a quick buck off everyone's misfortune. CYA because if you think its bad now, just give it a couple of more years. You ain't seen nothing yet! RW

I don't know how is the situation in the USA or in UK, but in FRANCE when we do intervention, we usually get stones, empty bier cans, and even such uncredible things like fridges which are thrown from the top of big towers as they see our cars.
Young criminals usually calls our service and tell us there is fire in one flat or any accident, we go there with firemen and then we realized it was ambush in order attack us !!!!!
Even firemen, and emergency cars are attacked, all cars which have blue lights on top and siren !!!!!!
Do you have such daily experience in other countries ?
