I want to hear from people that are familiar with backgrounds for their respective departments on this one. I have three questions!

1. What is your agencies policy on drug use?

2. Does your agency automatically disqualify applicants for certain drugs, if so, which ones?

The reason why I ask is that a lot of potential applicants have used drugs (various types) when they were juveniles or in college and some departments have a mandatory disqualification for specific type of drugs.

3. Does it seem that your department is leaning toward more rigid drug issue criteria or the opposite?

Thanks everyone for participating in these forums, I find them very helpful.

I want to hear from people that are familiar with backgrounds for their respective departments on this one. I have three questions!

1. What is your agencies policy on drug use? Employees can't use them without a prescription.

2. Does your agency automatically disqualify applicants for certain drugs, if so, which ones?Yes, hallucinogens, specifically LSD, Peyote, Heroin, etc.

The reason why I ask is that a lot of potential applicants have used drugs (various types) when they were juveniles or in college and some departments have a mandatory disqualification for specific type of drugs.Yes they have, and that is why today *SOME* drug use is acceptable. When I hired on in 91, only marijuana in your past was acceptable, nothing else. Before my time, it wa NO DRUG USE WHATSOEVER without a prescription.

3. Does it seem that your department is leaning toward more rigid drug issue criteria or the opposite?Trending over a long period of time (decades) as described above indicates movement toward leniency.

Thanks everyone for participating in these forums, I find them very helpful.De nada.
