Not yet...
I take the written exam tomorrow.

I too am taking the written tomorrow. I highly doubt that anyone taking the test tomorrow, assuming they pass the BI/poly/psych, would be selected for enrollment in the academy class that is forming right now. The physical is on the 3rd, if you pass the written, then you get to work on your personal history statement, etc... It's about a 3 month process. Unless the next class starts in June or July, you can bet that you'll be waiting awhile longer to begin the 9 month training process.

I'm wondering, do they run overlapping academy classes? I.e. if a class forms for May, will they start another in July?

Did you pass?

Nope, failed by one point... But then again I got my letter on Feb.21 and the test was one Feb 24. They offered study guidesm but I didn't have time to find and order them. I get to retest on March 17, I ordered the study guide from Amazon and I will not fail again.

Sorry to hear that, man. I'm sure you'll do well on the next round. I passed, but not by nearly as much as I hoping to. It seems like the note taking will make-or-break the test for most people.

1.Note taking section is the key to the whole test. Pass that portion and the rest is gravy

2. The PT is really easy IMO...not even much of a challenge but watched several fail the pushup and sit up portion. Some failed the running also but all of it was easy if you are in shape.

3. The oral board is not that hard either. One key is make sure you KNOW the dept and what it's about. KNOW the Chief as they will ask you that,I guarentee it.

4. The BI I was assigned to was a flaming ***** IMO. We didn't see eye to eye from the get go and I have no doubt that is what failed me out. So bite your tongue and shut up when they grill you. He started giving me **** about past drug use and this and that and was throwing the poly at me and stuff. I told him to sack up and give me the poly right then and there as I have passed them before and wasn't worried about it. WRONG ANSWER on my part but you live and learn. He just ****ed me off and I bit on it.

Thats all I can help you with

Are you currently applying with any agency right now?

Chiller, thanks for the intel.

After you passed the PT (you're right, 1.5m in 15:10 is a joke) how long did you end up waiting for the oral and BI?

HA!! That guy is a real D*CK he pulled the same mess on me. Threatened me with a polygraph....HA! Even if I WAS lieing (which I wasnt) he wouldnt know. Silly people and there silly boxes that they think can tell the truth from a lie.

Seriously that guy has a hard on for playing tuff guy. His wife must wear the pants at home. Guess he has to feel like the boss somewhere

But DO NOT confuse this with my oponion of what I feel is a otherwise stand up squared away department.

Spec....No,I'm already employed as an FLEO

AAA...It's been awhile but I do not believe it was much longer then a month or 2. The BI talks to you right after the Oral the same day. You should leave the oral knowing whether you passed it or not. If you are applying for many agencies, prepare to explain that one also as they will ask you why...etc..

PI....and to think I thought it was me :) . I have heard that those BI's are extremely overworked so maybe that was why he was a cranky ahole.

Dept. is a solid one for sure. Top notch training.

Having passed the physical today, interacting with the recruiting department and two of the background investigators, I have to say that this agency is now my first choice. My opinion of them is very high; they seem to be an extremely professional organization, with a lot of really smart people working for them... Apparently the long training process pays dividends.

We have 9 days to complete the PHQ, and they're starting some element of the background investigation on Monday. That seems pretty aggressive, but you'll hear no complaints from me.

Thanks for the intel, everyone.
