They sent me a letter that has a web address and password so you can do it online.

My question is should I type it or just fill it out by hand?

It will be neater if you type it and if you make a mistake all you have to do is hit delete

definitely type it , then you can save the PHS for later. But I do believe SDSO has their own PHS, instead of the CA POST PHS. and whatever you do, go for law enforcement deputy and not court/detentions deputy. they might try to persuade you to go the C/D route, but I advise you not to.

They hire very few deputies for the patrol slots and those positions are very competitive. I have a friends who is in corrections with SDSD and he loves it. I also have another friend who made it into patrol (she has a b.a. degree and good exp.) and she has been in the courts since she left the academy.

i guess some c/d deputies love it. i know a lot are trying to transfer to the easy courts. but it sucks if you decide to do patrol. you'll have to goto another academy, but at least you have higher pay. who's your friend that works in court? which court? i left last june but worked in downtown court as non-sworn.
