nice to post that info, but you are almost preaching to the choir here- most folks here are either cops/sheriffs/fed agents/dispatchers/jailors,going thru a process with other Depts to get hired, retired or just plain cop enthusiasts! Tell us some of your insghts into SFPD -from esperience, and why you'd promote SFPD as a job-compared to "south " San Franscisco PD, Daly city,Marin county Sheriffs,Oakland PD,Richmond PD, Alameda PD/co.SD,East Bay Parks PD,or even BART PD..............

i have 14yrs in the business and i'm spreading the word as we all are. so far, i have received replies from four interested peace officers, who will be starting the process on 3-20. this is just another avenue in getting the word out.

Bro, as much as I hated the high cost of living and bad traffic, and smog and ect... in California, God Damn do I miss it! :D
Especially after living in GA for the past 2 years... ha ha ha, plus havin all your friends and family in Cali helps in the desire to return. I might just have to go through another academy... :( I sure do miss the 3* @ 50, and having a assult rifle in my car, and a juvienile court system that prosecutes, and a DA who throughs the book at more than just police officers...

Well, out here, juvi crimes have a point system, stolen car = 4 points, burglary = 4 points, shoplifting = 1 point ,ect...
Unless the kid you bust has 12 points or more, all we can do is knock out an arrest ticket, write the report and release them to their parents. The court system will set the court date for about 1 year later, and thats about it...

LOLOLOL! It doesn't get you much down here ( in so.Cal) either-I'm at $80K and some change/yr(need to work some OT$$) right now and can't wait for the city of L.A. to scrape a few crumbs on the flr for me( they promised a 2 .5 yr, 10.5% raise) :o but look at it this way- its a fun job where you have a chance to be your own boss most of the time ,and we make alot more than people who really have to work hard( ask a hi rise janitor or a waiter /waitress what they make, then you'll be very grateful).I looked on other states blogs and cops were "happy" to get $38- 60K/yr (hi step after 12-15 yrs)-NYCPD has the nerve to "offer" $33K/yr starting and 60K a yr top in a city (NYC) thats COL is 25% higher than any CA city.I think we are fairly well off compared to alot of folks in the U.S.
