I was pulled over for not having plates on my car, but they let me go since I had the permit from the DMV in my window. I had all my info, license, insurance, registration, but the officer asked me for my social. Is it proper procedure for metro officers to ask someone for their social on a traffic stop? what do you do if someone refuses to disclose it?

more than likely , you gave it many yr's ago when ya got yer 1st drivers license, they have it regardless if you wanna quote it....it's just only you the true person would actually know it , so thats verifying who you are in case yr not in possession of the actual license

Could also be that someone with the same name as you has a warrant. They ask for your SS# to rule you out.
