You would need at least 4 years on the job before you can try out for Metropolitan Division (Metro). If you make it to Metro, you then have to wait for an opening in K-9 before you can put in for it. It's not easy to get into since there are a lot of folks who are trying for the same job 'cause it's a "cool" job to have.
