Depends upon the bank and district. In DC they are federal employees. In the different districts, they have different roles and responsibilities.

Yeap....some districts let their officers be LEOs....other districts want them to be security guards.

Each district hires it's own folks...... Dallas, Atlanta, and KC seem to always be hiring. They don't advertised on usajobs. You have to go to each District's page to see if they are hiring or not....and apply directly though that District.

I know folks in KC.....so I can tell you some about that district.

Regardless of location, a position within the FRB involves 99% security. As PPDMO373 said, some places are more LE oriented, but in the end you will do very little actual LE duties. If you are seeking a "federal" position with more traditional LE duties, look elsewhere. Also in case you didn't know, all of their training is in-house and they do not attend basic training at FLETC like most other agencies.

A buddy of mine was with the Fed Reserve Police and he attended an "in house" training however, the instructors were FLETC certified/trained.

There are several Instructors who are contracted by FLETC to teach, etc. Most of these are LEO's for local agencies. However the Fed. Reserve Bank does not attend FLETC for basic training. They may for advanced training, which even local agencies can do.

So why does it say on the FLETC website that they do and training is accredited? I made some phone calls also and was told that The FRB go to FLETC

FLETC training and FLETA are 2 different things. FLETA certifies that the academies meet the minimum standards as set forth by the attorney general.

The FRB runs its own academy in Atlanta and if a district runs enough officers, they may run one at their facility.

They do NOT GO TO FLETC!

There were people in my FLETC class who were formerly with FRB. FRB does not send their people to FLETC.

Who told you this? It seems people always say on here, well "i talked to this person" or "this person told me"..but never specifically state whom. I first hand will vouch and say they do not train at FLETC. I just left there for some advanced training and no where on the list or any list of agencies states that FRB train at FLETC. Now do allow them to take advance training? Sometimes. As goes with certain local agencies. However if you have more members on this site stating that FRB trains in Atlanta. Well 2 to 1 odds say they do!

The only FRB that attend FLETC is the IG agents who do attend CITP.

Take it from me - I just left the F.R.B. (6th District) back in February.

They do NOT attend FLETC for basic recruit training. They have their own academy up in Atlanta (which is FLETA accredited) for new recruits. Some of their instructors have attended FLETC in the past, for advanced courses only.

Hope this clarifies the point?

Federal Reserve Officers are not Federal Officers, as far as FLETC goes, any LEO can attend a training course offered by FLETC, that does not mean he is academy trained at FLETC its regarded to as be Continuning Education in terms with each state's Minimum Standards. I advise anyone who is a Federal Reserve Officer if you are pulled over DO NOT SAY you are a "Federal Officer" because you are not!!! The only thing that is Federal about the Federal Reserve is it's name and the actual board members that are located in D.C..

Not correct. The Police Officers who work for the Federal Reserve in the DC Metro area are Series 0083 Federal Police Officers.

You have my attention on how they can be 0083 series since they are not "US Govt" employees.

You just stuff a few bucks from the bank vault in your pockets every once and a while, and hide it under your mattress. After 20 years you got a nice little nest egg.

Same thing goes for the US Mint Police, but their retirement is all in pennies.
