Hey all, Im a senior in college and Im going to be graduating in a few months. The wife and I were talking about re-locating. She mentioned Rehoboth her company has an office there and she would be able to transfer and make alot more money. Weve been there a few times and besides all of the overly friendly male residents I found it to be a very nice vacation spot. Does Rehoboth have a good department? If not what are some other good agencies in the area and whats the hiring process like? Thanks in advance

I dont know much about the process in DE, but if your looking at the Area - I'd say check out Ocean View PD. Its about 15 minutes south of Rehoboth and just west of Bethany. That area is growing quickly from what I can see from my last few years of going down there. I dont know how often the other departments there hire full-timers, but if your interested in just looking, the town of Bethany Beach and South Bethany also have their own departments. And Just north of Rehoboth is Lewes, which has its own town PD as well.

All those department listed above a great, But I do not think any of them have a ongoing hiring process. Most of the PD's in sussex are small and maybe have one or two slots to fill ever couple of years or when they get any funding from thier town councils to hire more officers. Ocean city is a great department it's in maryland but not to far from the Delaware line. PM if you need anymore info.

I was thinking about mentioning Fenwick Island, or of course the big one Ocean City, MD - but I didnt know how far he would have been willing to commute.
BlackStang: As a side note, what are the chances of someone new getting hired in O.C. without prior experience of being a seasonal or a lateral officer? A buddy of mine from university, who was a seasonal in O.C. , said its almost impossible without either of those past things on your resume.

I did some of there hiring process last year, and from what I heard from a lot of people there It is pretty hard to get on with them, with no prior experience.
