Does any one have an Idea when ISP will be hiring again I know the web site says spring but just seeing if any ones got the inside. Any chance there will be some boise spots open I know there wasnt last time. How is the ISP to its troopers, hows training, gear, cars, what type of weapons do they carry?
Thanks

Can't help with all your questions specifically but I know some of them.
Crown vics are the majority of their fleet. A few Tahoe's in the snowy parts.
Glock .45 cal
The troopers I know (a couple very well) have never complained about bad relations internally.
I know they have their own academy after basic POST. Not sure how much training after that.

The website also says that they do not have any openings in the Boise area, and that they don't anticipate any in the future.
Personally, I'd much rather live in CdA than Boise anyway.

Boise is one of the most competitive regions to get. ISP definitely gets the best training in the state. Every law enforcement officer in the state must go to the Patrol Academy which lasts 10 weeks. Then a recruit must go to a second academy. The Trooper Academy or ATC, is very challenging 12 week experience. Then a trooper must go through an FTO program. Every Trooper that is on patrol is given a choice for a Glock 21 or 22, and is issued an AR-15.
Currently most patrol cars are Crown Vics, soon the main patrol vehicle will be the Charger. I have seen Tahoes, Chevy Trucks, and the new Durango for Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and used in certain areas for patrol.

Our Chief ordered a new Charger, and when he did, they told him that ISP just put in a bid for a large order of new Chargers with Hemi's! ISP Gets some of the best training in the state of Idaho, they usually have some of the best equipment excellent pay for most areas and the benefits are top notch from what I hear. Although I also hear it is a tough organization to work for. Politics.
