Hey,

My name is Kurt and well I've been interested in becoming a police officer. My dad was a Prison Guard, and I guess it just run's in the veins. I have worked as a Youth Counselor for about 5 years now. I am 26, and have a Bachelor's in Sociology. For as long as I can remember I've always wanted to move out west, especially San Diego area. I'm in a position now where this can be possible...but I do not know the area, and havent heard alot of good things about the dept in SD. I have heard about Chula Vista and others, but I've never been there. I have some vacation time coming up, and would like to take a week long trip out there and test for as many police jobs that I can. I am from New Hampshire, so this is kind of a one shot deal until i can get some more time for vacation. If there are any recruiters on here I would really like to talk to you, and see whats out there. I'm a very stable person, with a clean record. I'm motivated to make this change in my life, but just need some input and help in targeting which depts I want to apply for. Also, not that its a big deal I am a former college athlete having played football during my time in college, so I am athletic and feel I could complete the physical testing. IS there a way to shorten up the process, like doing written, phys, poly, psych testing all in one? Please if anyone is a recruiter please respond, thanks.

Kurt

Point of information: Google the agency you are interested in and read what they offer and have available. Most agencies in CA have their own websites and advertise their wants, needs and requirements along with thier benefits packages.

Many agencies have special schedules for out of state applicants. Do not limit yourself to beautiful So. Cal, there a a lot of job opprotunities in the Sacramento area. Sac PD for instance, hires about 100 officers per year, that is a lot of jobs and the area is not nearly as expensive as SD, LA, of SF.
