Carl "BUTCH" Carpenter a 20 year veteran from the Decatur Police Department has been in an 8 year battle with bone marrow cancer. Two hips have been replaced and the cancer is back again. he must go to Little Rock Arkansas twice a week for 8 months for treatment. The trips from Decatur Illinois is over 500 miles and each trip will cost over 300 dollars with gas,food and hotel. He can only get this treatment in Arkansas. The costs are very high even with insurance help.
A fund raiser is being held April 4th in Dectaur. We are looking for itmes for door prizes and any help we can get for Carl. The fund raiser will be at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Decatur with a live band playing, 50/50 raffle, door prize raffles, food and drink.
Any help would be greatly appriciated. Please check with your Benevolents or unions maybe there could be some help in those area for Carl. If nothing else words of encouragement would also help Carl.
