curious if anyone else in here is in the fwpd process. started with 640+ invited to take the pat. written was a week ago and found out only 345 were invited for the written. 50 something didnt even show up so out of the 290 who took the written, it was posted that 120 failed the written..thus leaving 170 to move along to background..usually fwpds' process consist of at least 3x that amount making to the background

I'm in it. Wow, only 170 moving on. Do you know your score? I don't know mine yet. I guess 100 people were no-shows at the PAT. You said 50 no-showed for the written test. That test was different to say the least. I thought I was taking a correspondence course or something, lol.

written was definitely different, however keep in mind the written for fwpd has always been a 4th grade level exam, this recent written exam was extremely challenging. im not surprised almost half failed it. I just hope i wasnt one of them..

Challenging!, Yes. But no math, I thought that was strange.

Do you know about how many of the 178, percentage wise, will make it through the 1st Oral Interview? Seems like they can't afford to cut to many. We're low on people allready.

I guess my biggest fear, barring failing the writen test, is the Physcological test. I hear it's ridiculous. Since they switched the writen test, maybe they'll change up the physcological test. Probably not...

dont think they will cut too many in the interview, becuase its basically impossible to pass the interview that fwpd uses. letters have already been mailed out. i know of two personally who got their letters on tues 12/19 stating they were not moving on, i have yet to receive a letter so i hope thats a good sign. as far as the psychological, we'll see. i was cut at the mmpi last time. i believe they will use the same test however the new director of the acadmey i do not believe is as big of a psych fanatic as the old director so we'll see what happens. good luck to ya.

Well, I got my letter Wednesday. It said I passed and has a time for the interview. It didn't give a score though. I wonder if they don't want people to know. Either way passing is all that counts. You said nobody passes the interview. Do you have any tips? Why is it that it's unpassable? Thanks!!

should of said its almost impossible not to pass the interview. congrats on continuing in the process. i also received my letter and will interview on 1/17.
my letter didnt offer my score either, however those who scored below the 72 percent required to move on were informed on their letter of their score, so who knows...good luck.

how you get your interview so soon? whats up with that...im not scheduled until tuesday the 16th. oh well, must be saving the best for last. seriously though today my supervisor from my fulltime job, who trains officers in this area for the crisis intervention team had to run some items up to the academy today while they were doing interviews and he stated it looked liked a kindergarten class with all the "recruits" sitting in the hallway waiting to be interviewed. so it looks like fwpd is gonna hire young again.

Has anyone heard if we've had any No-Shows to the Interview process?

nadster011

usually in the past there are a handfull of no-shows, and handfull(or is it handful) of cuts. i would say however this year should be different due to the fact that in the past there was usually 3-400 going to background, this year at the very most if everyone shows and passes their interview it would only be around 170....with that sad, was i the only one walking out of the interview room with a big knot in my stomach? personally didnt think mine went too well to begin with and on top of that im already a reserve with this dpt, and 3 of 4 on the panel were officers who i was already familiar with which should of made it easier however fwpd reserves are treated very different than they should be thus, wouldnt be surprised if im cut....however theres always impd...good luck....

I agree. This is my first time applying with the FWPD and I am hearing that this session has had alot of drop-outs and those who failed. More so than in the past. I am keeping my fingers crossed and patiently (NOT) awaiting my letter saying Congrats! You have made it to the next step! Who is IMPD?

nadster011

IMPD Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. new metro dpt which consist of a merger(county takeover) of indianapolis and marion county pd's. i was informed by an officer on here who already works for that dpt that they anticipate at least 170 retiring at the end of 07, and they are already currently short staffed, so im gonna give it a shot...please dont put all your hopes and dreams into fwpd...pursue as many other dpts as possible.

FWPD is the only option for me besides maybe the Sheriffs department. We don't want to move to another town.

Does anyone have any idea on the wait time for the Oral Board Results?

I know that they are scheduled to do the Interviews, according to my paperwork, until the 20th of January. Then they have the whole month of February blocked off for the Background checks. I don't think it is taking them as long however due to the low amount of those making it through the steps.

Bring on the good news *Smiles*

keep in mind only 175(approx) were scheduled to take the interview. if you rememer, i believe there were at least 5-6 interview rooms. figure 2 per hour, per room, that 12 interviews an hour. first day of interviews i believer was 1/9/05 do 8hrs one day and that half of those scheduled for interviews, if they all showed up. i believe however they will send rejection letters first because those who pass have to be assigned a backgound investigator before they are notified that they passed.

Do you know if they give us a form/questionaire to fill out for the Background check or do they do it all on their own?

I was told in regards to the Background check that I should be good to go because they just did one on me a month ago when I asked to do a Ride-A-Long after the Fitness test.

So many questions are running through my brain.

background investigation is more in-depth than the one performed for the ride along. last process you were sent a congrats letter for passing the oral interview, and it stated you should be contacted by officer so and so who will be conducting your background interview. remember background invest is more indepth than the one for the ride along. they will obviously check criminal involvments, drug use, drug history, family history, education history, talk to neighbors, possibly credit check, work history etcc...

Just got Notification from FWPD Messge board that we will recieve our letter within 1 to 1.5 weeks. At least this gives me a time-frame to go by.

Thanks for the details on the BG Check. I have nothing to worry about there. Thanks!
